Award presented

At the Rotary awards function, V.V.Narayana Rao president of Rotary Club Visakha Port City was adjudged the Best President Award for Rotary International District 3020. The award was presented by Indian Test cricketer V.V.S.Laxman at a function held in Vijayawada. Rotary Club Visakha Port City received the Best Club Award.

UNICEF workshop

Bala Vikas Foundation with the support of UNICEF will organize a one-day workshop on children’s consultation on sustainable development goals for NGOs working for care and protection of children in the district at YMCA on Friday.

AU Registrar wants Jnanabhoomi website

Andhra University Registrar V.Umamaheswara Rao has asked colleges to send details of the institutions in a comprehensive manner to the ‘Jnanabhoomi’ website launched by the State government. Addressing the university employees at an awareness programme, he said details like scholarships and attendance should be uploaded regularly. District Social Welfare Officer K.Rama Rao said necessary training was imparted to the staff to operate and upload information on the website.

CITU supports archakas’ agitation

The city committee of CITU has extended its support to the North Andhra Archaka Sangham and temple staff agitating for 20 days. The Archakas have decided to stop ‘arjitha sevas’ in temples from June 30 deploring the lack of response from the government to their demands.

US Hindi foundation invites Lakshmi Prasad

Former MP and member of Central Hindi Consultative Committee Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad has been invited as chief guest by the US Hindi Sangham Foundation for a programme to be organized in New Jersy on July 8. He will also chair a special session on ‘Telugu language origin’ to be organized by Telugu Premikula Vibhagam of North America Telugu Association on July 1 and 2.
