Home Minister urges fishermen to end fast

AP Home Minister N. Chinarajappa appealed the fishermen who are on a relay hunger strike for the last two months to call off their protest.

It may be recalled that the fishermen have been staging a relay hunger strike, demanding that the community be included in the ST list. The Minister said the Bill for inclusion of fishermen in the ST list will be introduced in the budget session. When the Minister left the spot, the fishermen community divided lot. While one group slipped the lemon juice offered by the Minister and called off the fast, the other continued and said they will break it only when a written assurance was given.
