Wood Bio-degradation Centre to conduct Technology demonstration programme

Centre distributing treated wooden pant to fishermen

The Scientist-in-charge N Rama Rao said that the Wood Bio-degradation Centre of the Institute of Wood Science and Technology is conducting a technology demonstration programme on treated catamarans at Bangarammapalem in S Rayavaram in S Rayavaram mandal on January 19, 2010.

The centre, under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education of the Union Ministry of Environment of Forests is undertaking research on marine wood bio-deterioration and its control.

Under a World Bank project on foresty research, education and extension, the centre is distributing treated wooden pant built catamarans to fishermen at Bangarammapalem to serve as demonstration models.
