Advisory panel constituted for Vizag Festival
An Advisory Committee has been formed for the conduct of Vizag Fest from December 1 to 10 at AU Engineering College grounds. Former Vice Chancellor K.V.Ramana is chairman of the committee. The committee members are V.Balamohandas, GSN Raju, EAS Sarma, CS Rao, KS Chalam, S.Satyanarayana, P.Rama Rao, N.Prakasa Rao, BL Narayana, AV Ramana Rao, K.Timma Reddy, Tammaiah Gandhi, NDA Paul, Vani Sarma, ABSV Ranga Rao, Chandu Subba Rao, DD Prasada Rao, BB Ganesh, N.Ramanachalam and A.Ramakrishna Rao.
AMC meet on centenary block
The Andhra Medical College Centenary Academic Block Committee meeting was held on Friday to discuss the proposed construction of block on college premises. An amount of Rs.25 crore was allotted by the government and Rs.15 crore was promised by alumni of AMC for construction of the new block.
Syndicate Bank observes foundation day
Syndicate Bank observed its 92nd Foundation Day by conducting a blood donation camp at its regional office in association with Rotary Club, Visakhapatnam on Friday. A total number of 33 units of blood were received at the camp.
Warder of Central Prison commits suicide
Warder of the Central Prison K.Appa Rao committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan in the staff quarters on Friday. Jail Superintendent S.Rahul said Appa Rao was suffering from partial paralysis. He was attending to his duties with the help of his wife. The body was sent to KGH for a post mortem examination.
VSPL’s record discharge
m.v.Morea berthed at Eq-9 OF Vizag Seaports Private Limited on Friday set a new record with a discharge rate of 26,968 tonne in 24 hours. It was carrying bauxite on behalf of receivers Vedanta Alumina Ltd., This surpassed the previous record of 19,700 tonne according to VPSL spokesman.
SPF men takes out bicycle rally
As part of the Police Commemoration Week, nearly 60 APSPF officers and personnel took out 35 km cycle rally on Friday. Commandant D.N.A.Basha and Assistant Commandant G.Lakshminarayana flagged off the rally.
