Library week concludes

The Library Week at Sarada Grandhalayam, Anakapalle concluded on Monday with former minister Dadi Veerabhadra Rao speaking on 125 years of ‘Kanyasulkam’ play and the evolution of drama over the ages. He felicitated Sarada Library president K.Butchiraju on receiving the Janamaddi Sahiti Peetham’s award for his services to the library. Anakapalli Merchants’ Association president K.V.Sarat Kumar presented a cheque for Rs.1.08 lakh for the development of the library.

Awards for Vizag RWA

The Andhra Pradesh Federation of Resident Welfare Association, Visakhapatnam has bagged the highest number of ‘Best RWA Manager Awards’ at the fifth NCRWA Conference held in Mumbai recently. The awardees included president of APFERWAS Uday Shirname, vice-presidents KSR Murty and Jeeja Valsaraj, president of ‘Voice of Gajuwaka’ Turaga V.Nageswara Rao, RWA activist Usha Ganapati Raju and secretary of Kakinada Federation K.Sri Rama.

Two institutions not affiliated to Andhra University

Registrar of AU V.Uma Maheswara Rao cautioned students and general public that some institutions are claiming that they have been affiliated to AU to get more number of admissions for the academic year. In a statement, he clarified that a few colleges such as Sri Guru College and Adarsh Degree College in Pendurthi have been conducting classes claiming that they are affiliated to AU which is not true, he said.

Two more jailed in drink driving case

Two motorcyclists R.Jagadeesh (21) and M.Krishna Swamy (25) has been sentenced to a three day jail term and slapped a fine of Rs.500 each for drink driving by a local court on Tuesday. ADCP(traffic) K.Mahendrapatrudu said the motorists were caught for driving in tipsy condition by Gajuwaka police.
