Vice President Venkaiah Naidu to visit on Tuesday

Vice President M.Venkaiah Naidu will arrive here on Tuesday on a two day visit. On arrival from New Delhi at 1.40pm by special aircraft, he will proceed to Sagarnagar. After lunch, he leaves for stay at Kirlampudi Layout. On Wednesday, he will participate in the inauguration of AP Ag Tech Summit 2017 along with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and will leave for New Delhi at 4.30pm.

five militia members surrender

Five Maoist militia members of the Galikonda and Korukonda area committees of the banned CPI I(Maoist) in Visakhapatnam Agency surrendered before the SP Rahul Dev Sharma today. The surrendered militia members were Gemeli Ramesh, Musiri appalanaidu, Musiri Ramakrishna all are from Nallabelli area in Koyyuru mandal of Galikonda area committee. They were allegedly involved in offences such as extending logistics support to the Maoists, putting up Maoist posters and a few other offences. The two other surrendered are Kilo Bangaru and Gemeli Venkateswara Rao who are hailing from Meduru area in Chintapalli mandal.

Rally taken out

East Coast Railway Contract Workers’ Union took out a rally from the Railway Station to the DRM’s office today demanding that the contract workers at the New Coaching Complex be paid wage-arrears due for three months.

IIM brochure released

District Collector Pravin Kumar released the placement brochure of IIM-Visakhapatnam batch 2016-2018 today. Addressing the students, he underlined the need for optimum utilization of resources. He gave away prizes to winners of contests held as a part of the Swachh Pakhwada, fortnight-long cleanliness drive on the campus. Professors Charan Singh and Ishwar Murty from IIM-Bengaluru attended.

Chief Minister coming on Wednesday

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will participate in the inauguration of Ag Tech 2017 on Wednesday morning and will participate in the panel discussions from 2.30pm to 6pm. Later he will dine with the delegates at Park Hotel. On Thursday, he will participate in the summit up to 1.30pm and in the panel discussions up to 6pm and will leave for Vijayawada at 6.30pm. On Friday, he will participate in the valedictory of the summit along with founder of Microsoft Corporation Bill Gates at 2pm. He will address the national conference of Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India at 4pm and at 6.20pm, he will leave for Vijayawada.

Two smugglers arrested and 636 kg ganja seized

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials seized 636 kg of dry ganja and arrested two persons when they were transporting the contraband in a lorry near Sarada Nagar flyover at Anakapalle town on Saturday. The seized contraband worth was around Rs.63.6 lakh.
