Dance training workshop

Andhra University Registrar V.Umamaheswara Rao said the university was taking all measures to revive and strengthen traditional Indian art. He participated in a dance training workshop organized jointly by the National School of Dance, Natyasudha and Andhra University on Wednesday. A total of 25 aspirants from Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi and Haridwar apart from Andhra Pradesh attended the training.

Diabetes centre opened

Dr.Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre opened its new clinic at Chakravarthi Palace at CBM Compound in the city on Wednesday. The centre was inaugurated by S.G.Chalam, State President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization in the presence of Dr.V.Mohan, Chairman of the Diabetes Specialties Centre and Dr.T.Sameer Nandan, Consultant, Visakhapatnam branch.

Swachh mission

As part of ‘Swachh Pakhwada’, a clean fortnight began in St.Joseph’s College for Women on Wednesday. NSS programme officers K.Manikya Kumari and Ch.Annapurna conducted a seminar on the topic ‘Swachhata’ to create awareness among the students and their role in keeping the community clean.

IIAM Vizag – Business school in collaboration with AIMS and Lions Club has conducted a seminar on ‘Fight against drugs-need of the hour’ as a part of national management week, here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Kutikuppala Surya Rao advised parents to keep an eye on the children and spend quality time with them. Vijaya Rudraraju, director, IIAM spoke on the occasion.

Anti ragging meet held at Andhra Medical College

Anti-ragging meet was held at Andhra University on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Senior Civil Judge and Secretary of District Legal Services Authority S.Damodara Rao said that ragging is punishable offence and persons caught indulging in ragging will be suspended form college and will not be allowed to seek admission in any college. Guidelines framed by Supreme Court based on Raghavan committee recommendations will be scrupulously followed by educational institutions. The punishment for ragging goes from six months to 10 years imprisonment based on gravity of offences are provided in the Act.
