Visakhapatnam
Taking a exception on the TDP MLC MVVS Murty’s comment on Andhra university, leaders of YSRCP staged a dharna on the campus and burnt his effigy.
Murty reportedly said that Andhra University was a ghost campus and it would gain international and national importance because of TDP’s decision to host Mahanadu on the campus. Speaking at the dharna, YSRCP district president Gudivada Amarnath said much a comment from Dr.Murty, an educationalist, himself was deplorable.
The 90-year-old university has a rich heritage. This is where eminent persons like C.R. Reddy and Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan had held the office of the Vice-Chancellor and renowned professors such as Mahadevan and Humayan Kabir had taught, he said.
