Land scam- former corporator M.Sombabu of TDP held

The SIT personnel accompanied by city police personnel conducted raids at six places including the house of former TDP corporator M.Sombabu at Madhurawada.

The search teams found incriminating documents and seized the original revenue registers pertaining to the Settlement Fair Adangal that had been missing since long form the MRO office and the District Collector’s office. The SFA are the original registers that contain details of the government land and land that had been assigned to freedom fighters, ex-servicemen and farmers after a survey conducted in 1952. Sources said that such registers in large number were found at the house of the former TDP corporator who had been taken into custody.

The raids conducted included at five places in Madhurawada and at one place in Balayya Sastry Layout in Seethammadara.

Sombabu who represents IV ward had allegedly sold land allotted to ex-servicemen to private individuals after obtaining no-objection certificate in 2004. Joint Collector and member of SIT G.Srijana said that they have formed six teams to verify 69 NOCs in all.
