Former Minister Konathala Ramakrishna met MPs and Ministers from the State and also leaders of various political parties in New Delhi to elicit their support to impress upon the Central government to honor the assurances given in the AP State Reorganization Act, 2014.

He led a ‘Chalo Delhi’ yatra from here to New Delhi on January 27. He along with YSRCP leader from Chittoor Gyanendra Reddy and LSP State president Beesetty Babji were on a fast during the entire journey. Around 70 persons participated in the yatra.

They were demanding an early announcement of railway zone with headquarters in Visakhapatnam, special package to the backward districts, sitting up of High Court in Rayalaseema, Steel Plant in Kadapa and Central University in Anantapur and Special Category Status. The leaders called off their fast Raj ghat on January 29 and later met Anakapalle MP M.Srinivasa Rao and Srikakulam MP K.Rammohan Naidu.

Sources said that they will meet CPI Floor leader D.Raja, YSRCP general secretary V.Vijaya Sai Reddy, Araku MP K.Geeta, MP KVP Ramachandra Rao and Union Minister YS Chowdary. Chowdary claimed that the Centre had given a good package and on SCS, he had no answer. On railway zone, he expressed the view that had it been in Vijayawada, it would have been declared by now, Ramakrishna said.
