The deadline set by the Union Human Resource Development is April 1, 2019 for untrained teachers to acquire the minimum professional qualification.

The one-and-half year programme has been designed for in-service untrained teachers across the nation and aims at empowering them to develop competencies that result in better learning outcomes.

According to State president of AP Un-Aided Schools Management Association A.Krishna Reddy, out of 5,236 untrained in-service teachers in the State, the registration figure for the course had touched 4,051 so far.

An amendment was made to the Right to Education Act, 2009 to this effect and the Ministry of HRD had urged the untrained teachers to get qualified before the deadline, failing which would lead to dismissal of such teachers from service.

The last date for submission of online applications through National Institute of Open Schooling portal is September 15, he said. One can register for the D.El.Ed programme by logging on to the NIOS website http://www.nios.ac.in.
