DCI staff launches fast

The DCI employees who were agitating demanding withdrawal of decision by the Union Cabinet for strategic sale of the company has launched a relay hunger strike here. The relay hunger strike was launched with participation of 15 employees including some executives, under the aegis of JAC of DCI employees and officers at the Three Horse Junction. DCI employees have already served a notice to the management to go on indefinite cease work agitation any time on or after December 6. The Centre has already issued an office memorandum constituting an Inter-Ministerial Group to oversee arrangements for appointment of transaction and legal advisers for expediting the process for disinvestment.

Former hockey captain honoured

Former captain of the Indian hockey team Dhanraj Pillay was honoured by the Friend’s Hockey Assocition at a programme organized here today. He advised the aspiring hockey players to play with passion. He briefed about his journey and how he shot to fame from a stage where he did not even own a hockey stick.

International workshop organized

An international workshop on ‘Advanced antennas and applications’ was organized at MVGR College of Engineering today. Sudhakar K.Rao from Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, California attended as chief guest and said that the platform aided the students to exchange ideas with the experts from industries and educational institutions.

City student bags silver medal in weightlifting

S.Pavan Kumar, a student of electrical and communication engineering, Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences has bagged silver medal in the recently concluded Visakha District Weightlifting Championship. He has been selected for the State-level competition which will be held in Eluru.

Andhra Bank celebrate foundation day

A blood donation camp was organized by the Andhra Bank Zonal Office at Seethammadhara as part of its 95th foundation day celebrations today. Andhra Bank was founded by Bhogaraju Pattabhi Seetaramayya at Machilipatnam on November 23, 1923. The bank today has 2,908 branches covering all States in the country having a turnover of Rs.3.40 lakh crore. Employees of the bank donated blood at the camp. Fruits and blankets were distributed at Vanaprasthanam Old Age Home at Muralinagar.

University professor Prasad felicitated

AU Vice Chancellor G.Nageswara Rao has lauded the efforts of professors in getting recognition to the university through their works. He was speaking at a function organized at TLN Sabha Hall on Monday night to felicitate Prof. KVSR Prasad who was retiring this month end.

Meet on data science from November 30
