School students visit naval warships

As part of Navy Week celebrtions, over 4,000 students from 80 schools including 280 special children visited three warships of the Eastern Fleet on Sunday and Monday. The warships INS Rajput, INS Kulish and INS Kamorta were open for the visit in the last two days. The students were taken on a guided tour of the ships and briefed about the diverse weapons and equipment fitted on board. A career counselling cell was also set up where the students were explained on various entry schemes to join Indian Navy.

Journalists take out motorbike rally

A motorbike rally was organized by journalists on the banker of AP Working Journalists’ Federation from the Gandhi statue to the Collectorate o Monday demanding immediate implementation of the assurance given by the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on allotment of three bedroom flats to journalists. Later, a memorandum was submitted to the District Collector Pravin Kumar.

Concrete consultancy centre opened

Ramco Cement opened its own concrete consultancy centre here on Monday. It will provide free onsite testing services such as slump cone test for assessing workability in concrete, compressive test for assessing strength of concrete done and also assess the quality of water being used for construction.

Semi-final of elocution contest on Tuesday

Focussing on the topic ‘From research to healthcare – role of pharmacist’, the semi final round of Devinder Pal National Elocution Competition 2017 will be held at Andhra University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences on Tuesday at 9.30am. The event is being conducted with the objective of encouraging students to enhance their competitive skills and their awareness on the role of pharmacist in several spheres.

Four jailed for drink driving

The Special Metropolitan Magistrate, Visakhapatnam, Kameswara Rao today sentenced four motorist to jail for periods ranging from three to four days for drinking under the influence of alcohol. S.Appalaraju of Pedagantyada, K.Srinu of China Gantyada and U.Penta Rao of Gajuwaka were sentenced to undergo three days jail and to pay a fine of Rs.500 each while I.Pentayya of Peda Gantyada was sentenced to jail for seven days.
