Isolated rainfall likely

The low-pressure area over west central and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal and associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level persists. Thunderstorm associated with heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari of north coastal Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday according to Cyclone Warning Centre.


Prizes given away to children

Marking Children’s Day, GVMC Commissioner M.Hari Narayanan gave away prizes to students who won in the sports and cultural competitions organized in 27 GVMC schools. Medals and mementos were also presented to students who won laurels at national, state and district level.

IMU Formation Day

Registrar of Dr.Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University Dayanand Murthy participating in the Ninth Formation Day of Indian Maritime University exhorted students to strive for excellence to successfully compete in the globalized environment. IMU Director U.S.Ramesh said that the campus stood first among all IMUs owing to the collective effort of the students and staff.

Art expo held

An art exhibition was organized at Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan on Tuesday. The paintings of young painters were displayed on the occasion. The children presented dances, sons and yoga. Dr.P.Joseph Lakshman Germanu Nonis from Sri Lanka and I.Eswara Rao were felicitated by school director Ch.Vasu Prakash.

RINL gets sustainability award

Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh today presented National Sustainability Award -second prize for 2017 to RINL among the integrated steel plants category in recognition of quality control aspects in steel sector. The award was presented to CMD P.Madhusudhan in the presence of Ministry of Steel Secretary Aruna Sharma and Joint Secretary Ruchika Chaudhry Govil, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel at National Metallurgists Day function held at BITS-Pilani, Goa campus.

Meet on mines safety

The directorate General of Mines Safety held separate meetings with the RINL management and the recognised union on mines safety today. This was the first bipartite meeting between the RINL management and DGMs and the first tripartite meeting involving the recognised union. The programme was inaugurated by RINL Director (personnel) Kishore Chandra Das.
