Meet on spinal cord injuries

The 4th annual meet on ‘Spinal Injury awareness on physical and rehabilitation medicine’, being organized by The Ability People will be inaugurated by MP K.Haribabu at the Ability Rehabilitation Centre at Seethampeta on Saturday. Free check up and therapy of persons with spinal cord injuries would however be done from 9am to 5pm on both the days.

Ganababu’s assurance to residents

MLA PGVR Naidu (Ganababu) has assured residents that improvement of roads and drains at VUDA colony at Gopalapatnam will be taken up with Rs.25 lakh. At the request of Residents’ Association President Ch.Bhaskara Rao and secretary M.Srinivasa Rao, he had sent proposals to the Municipal Commissioner. Earlier, he participated in plantation of saplings at the colony.

Rs.2.62 crore worth of ganja seized

A special team from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized 2,629 kgs of ganja that was being smuggled in a tipper. The DRI team also arrested four persons including the main kingpin and the driver. The officer of DRI, Visakhapatnam Regional unit launched an operation and intercepted the tipper near Anakapalle. The dry ganja was packed in 2kg packets and hidden under a tarpaulin covered with concrete chips. The contraband was valued at Rs.2.62 crores. All the accused were booked under the NDPS Act.

Tribunal to hear AP, TS in September

Vijayawada:: The Brijesh Kumar Tribunal has posted the hearing on the dispute between AP and Telangana over the sharing of Krishna Water for September 13. Tribunal Chairman Justice Brijesh Kumar has finalized the issues presented by the two governments and posted for hearing for three days from September 13 to 15. All the 16 issues presented by Telangana government were accepted by the chair. One out of 11 issues presented by Andhra Pradesh was dropped and another one was kept pending.

Banks to accept GST payment

All the branches of Andhra Bank in the zone are enabled to accept GST payment in cash or by cheque across the counters and customers of the bank may avail themselves of the facility through Internet banking also according to bank’s zonal manager. The challan generated from the GSTN website may also be used.

Woman lodges complaint against MLA Peela Govind of threatening to kill her

Sheik Adambi, a resident of Raticheruvu near Pendurthy met the Commissioner of Police T.Yoganand today and submitted a representation accusing Anakapalli MLA Peela Govind and a few others of threatening to kill her and her daughter Sheik Afraz and grab her land. According to sources, in her complaint, she said that she runs a small business at the Pendurthi junction had take a loan of Rs.2 lakh from Ramana, a financier, in 2015. She claimed that she had paid Rs.6 lakh till date along with interest. The financer has forged the documents of my house and is now trying to grab it’, she said in her complaint. She added that Ramana had taken both of us to the MLA’s house where we were kept under house arrest for a long time’, she alleged. The Commissioner has asked the DCP (Zone II) Ravi Kumar Murty to look into the matter and check the facts. Meanwhile, the MLA denied her allegations and added that both the parties had come to him with their representations and was told to settle the matter amicably.
