IIPE admissions – last date extended

The last date for applying for admission into Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy, Visakhapatnam for B.Tech chemical engineering and B.Tech petroleum engineering has been extended up to July 12. The admission is through JEE advance ranks and the students who intend to seek admission have to apply separately as per the procedure mentioned in the website www.iipe.ac.in.

Assessment camp held

An assessment camp for free distribution of artificial aids and assisted living devices for senior citizens belong to the BPL category was held at a programme organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. MP K.Haribabu inaugurated the camp. He said that the objective was meant to provide better life to senior citizens. The beneficiaries would be identified at the assessment camp ad artificial aids to be supplied by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India would be distributed to them later.

Alluri Sitarama Raju 120th birth anniversary celebrated

Leaders of various political parties and general public paid rich tributes to the revolutionary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju on his 120th birth anniversary at various places in the city. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao garlanded a statue of Alluri and paid rich tributes at Pandrangi, birth place of Alluri Sitarama Raju. District Collector Pravin Kumar also participated in the programme. Minister for R&B Ch.Ayyanna Patrudu paid rich tributes at K.D.Peta in the district. RINL , representatives of Ukkunagaram Kshtriya Association, SC and ST Association and a large number of employees paid floral tributes. A blood donation cam was organized under the aegis of the Alluri Sitarama Raju Vignan Kendram at the KGH.

Lok Adalat to be held on Saturday

A national-level Lok Adalat will be conducted here at the District Court Complex on Saturday said Principal District Judge P.V.Jyotirmayee. All criminal and civil cases, bank matters and insurance cases will be decided and compensation paid, she said in a statement on Tuesday. She said that cheque bounce cases must be settled amicably in view of Supreme Court judgement that complainant need not pay 10 per cent of cheque amount before district legal services or any amount as compounding fee as it had been waived.

AU sings MoU

Andhra University and Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences entered into a memorandum of understanding today. As a part of the MoU, the department of Foreign languages, AU will offer diploma courses in Japanese, Spanish and French languages to students of ANITS.

Poster released

AU Vice Chancellor G.Nageswara Rao today released a poster on drug abuse at a programme held in association with Green Valley on the university campus. He urged the youth to stay away from alcohol and drugs. He said NGOs and educational institutions play an important role in creating awareness on substance abuse and help students lead a healthy life.

Scientist in-charge of CIFT Research Centre

Dr.R.Raghu Prakash has taken over as Scientist in-charge of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Visakhapatnam Research Centre. Dr.Prakash, principal scientist has expertise in responsible and sustainable fishing technologies like by-catch reduction devices. He had led the first Central India Ocean expedition scientific cruise team for the assessment of Myctophid resources.

Skill training centre of healthcare launched

VIVO Health care's first skill centre in the city was inaugurated by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao today. Dr.R.Sasi Prabha, obstetrician and important dignitaries from the healthcare and education field were present at the event. The courses offered at the centre include general duty assistant, dental assistant, dialysis technician and emergency medical technician among others. The centre also offers health, safety and life support programmes for corporates, schools and health providers.
