Dwibhasyam Rajeswara Rao felicitated
Writer Dwibhasyam Rajeswara Rao was felicitated at a function held to mark the 90th birth anniversary of writer Balivada Kanta Rao on Monday. Former Minister Dadi Veerabhadra Rao was the chief guest. Bharata Nidhi Foundation chairman D.S.V.Gopikrishna and others who spoke on the occasion recalled the services of Balivada Kanta Rao.
Officer bearers elected for VUDA Residents’ Association
The office bearers of Pithapuram VUDA Residents’ Welfare Association were elected on Sunday evening. The new team includes Dr.V.Kalyan Ram, president, K.Vijaya Kumar, vice-president, N.Narayana Rao, Secretary, M.Hanumantha Rao, Joint-secretary and T.Rambabu, treasurers.
Gold medals presented
V.Vijaya Lakshmi, who is working as a research assistant in Damodaram Sanjeevayya National Law University at Sabbavaram has been awarded two gold medals and a cash price at the recently held Andhra University convocation. Vijaya Lakshmi received the Saheb P.Venkayya medal, Kangula Padmaja Sudheer gold medal and Prof. Advikolanu Sri Rama Chandra Rao prize for the year 2013-15 according to a press release.
Jayaprakash Narayan wants more apparel parks
Lok Satta Party founder Jayaprakash Narayan today said to overcome unemployment problem in rural areas, the country was in need of more apparel parks like Brandix India Apparel City. After a visit to the park at Atchutapuram, he told reporters that he was amazed to see the facilities created at BIAC which had provided employment mostly to rural women.
Swachh fortnight campaign concludes
GVMC Commissioner M.Hari Narayan today lauded the efforts of HPCL for Clean Visakha Campaign and spending of Rs.5 crore under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in coordination with the GVMC. Speaking at the valedictory function, he said that HPCL had already provided compactor vehicles, dust bins and coordinating for construction of bio-toilets. He gave away prizes to the winners in the competitions conducted among the employees during the fortnight.
