People’s ballot opposes DCI privatization

Following by trade unions, activists of CITU and AIDWA today organized a people’s ballot on the privatization of DCI. Around 2000 people participated in the ballot organized at the Port Stadium, the Railway Grounds, Akkayyapalem Rythu Bazar, Port Hospital, Kailasapuram, Tatichetlapalem and Maharani Parlour. The participants opposed the privatization and feared that it would be would up like the Hindustan Zinc Ltd.,

Vyasya puja on Saturday

Vyasa puja and Tiru Nakshatra puja will be performed on Saturday at Srikrishna Chattanya Mandir near Zilla Parishad as part of the three-day celebrations to mark 105th Jayanti of Srimad Tridandi Swami Bhakti Vaibhav Puri Goswamy. Laksha Tulasi pushparchana will be performed on Sunday as part of Dhanurmasotsavam which will conclude with Godadevi kalyanam on January 14.

Navy Vice Chief visits HSL

Vice Admiral P.Ajit Kumar Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Indian Navy visited Hindustan Shipyard Limited today. CMD of HSL Rear Admiral L.V.Sarat Babu (Retd), briefed Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar regarding various on going projects as HSL and achievements of the shipyard over the past two years resulting in its remarkable turnaround.

Screening of film on Saigal

Vizag Film Society affiliated to the Federation of Film Societies of India will pay tributes to noted singer-actor K.L.Saigal on his deth anniversary by screening his film ‘Shahejhan at 6pm at Visakhapatnam Public Library on January 20. ‘Newton’ will be screened on Saturday the January 6 at 6pm according to secretary Narva Prakasa Rao. Documentary films on actors S.V.Ranga Rao and Relangi will be screened on January 27. The entry is free.

B.Ed results announced

The results of B.Ed distance education programme were released by AU Vice Chancellor G.Nageswara Rao today. Taking part in the ‘Dial your university’ programme, he responded to the queries pertaining to the courses offered, entrance test, among others. He said the backlog vacancies of non-teaching staff would be filled soon. Registrar V.Uma Maheswara Rao and director of School Education B.Mohini were present.
