Sixty-five students injured in bus accident on Yarada Hill

As many as 65 students sustained injuries in an accident involving three schools buses of a private educational institute from Anakapalle on the Yarada Hill today afternoon.

The students of the City Public School an Junior College, Anakapalle went in four school buses for a picnic to the Dolphin’s Nose and Yarada. After spending the forenoon session at Dolphin’s Nose, they were proceeding to Yarada. Three of the four buses were going in a row. Around 3pm., wile descending the steep hill after crossing the Naval area, the driver of the first bus lost control reportedly due to failure of brake and crashed into the Hill. The other two buses crashed into it.

The condition of six students is said to b serious and the injured were shifted to the CHC AT Aganampudi, the ESI Hospital at Malkapuram, the Naval Hospital INHS Kalyani, Care and the KGH in the city. The driver of the bus had done a wise thing by crashing into the hill side on the right. Had he turned to the left, the bus would crashed into the parapet wall and fallen to the ground deep below resulting in a major disaster said the ACP Ranga Raju (Harbour).

Health Minister orders probe into the accident

Minister for Health Dr.Kamineni Srinivas said a probe would be ordered into the school bus accident. He directed the District Collector to initiate steps to prevent recurrence of such accidents on the steep ghat road. Deputy Chief Minister N.China Rajappa, Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao, MP K.Haribabu, MLA P.Vishnu Kumar Raju and MLC Gade Srinivasulu Naidu were among those who call on the injured students.
