Measles and Rubella campaign from August 1 to 8

A Measles and Rubella campaign will be held for immunization of children in the target age group all over the district from August 1 to 8.

Though vaccination of children against measles was being covered under the national immunization programme, this was the first that the rubella was introduced in the national immunization programme said the District Medical and Health Officer Dr. N.Uma Sundari.

The vaccine would be administered at all schools both government and private and Anganwadi centres for children between 9 months and 15 years of age.

Those children not enrolled in schools and anganwadis would be covered, she said and added that the target was to immunize 10 lakh children in the district.
