Civil Supplies Minister warns erring Fair Price shop dealers

AP Civil Supplies Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao has warned of stringent action against erring shop-keepers or dealers indulging in malpractices but the public should also be more conscious and assist the authorities.

Speaking here to the media today after a review meeting, he said in the gold and jewellery trade there should not be any reduction in value under the pretext of wastage charges. Customers should not allow such practices, he added. Similarly, in cinema halls and shopping malls packed food items should not be sold above the MRP and it should also be taken to the notice of authorities.

He said that the State government was setting up 6,500 Chandranna village malls with the assistance of companies like Reliance and Anna canteens would also be opened for a population of every 50,000. He said 1.42 crore ‘Chandranna Sankranti Kanuka’ were being distributed through Fair Price Shops.
