GVMC Commissioner M.Hari Narayanan appealed the criticizes to take up rainwater harvesting.

He said that that rainwater harvesting structures will be enforced in buildings under semi-bulk category water connection. About 4,500 to 5000 apartment complexes and commercial buildings comes under the category and they must have Rain Water Harvesting Systems. They would be given one-month time to 45 days to do it.

Speaking to media, he said resident welfare associations and colony associations particularly VUDA colonies should come forward to take up rainwater harvesting. GVMC was taking up plantation under ‘Vanam-Manam’ programme of the State government and residents should also come forward, he said.

On mosquito menace, he said that 150 additional field staff were taken to fight. Residents passing on information about fever in the neighborhood would help zero in on affected areas and take up anti-larvae operations, he said. Dilapidated houses were proposed to be reconstructed particularly in One Town area and at Chilakapeta 68 families would be covered under the ‘Housig for All’ scheme.
