Gajuwaka Police Station Sub-inspector shifted pending enquiry into the incident

An under trial died under mysterious circumstances on Thursday even as the police claim it be a suicide. The mystery has deepened as both the police and hospital authorities remain tight lipped about the time of death. According to the City Police Commissioner, N Sambasiva Rao, the under trial, G Tata Rao was arrested by the Gajuwaka police following a non bailable warrant issued against him in connection with the case of abetting suicide of his wife by the Parawada police station.
On Thursday evening, he attempted to commit suicide in the bathroom of the Gajuwaka police station said the Commissioner. Subsequently, he was admitted to the KGH for emergency treatment but the KGH authorities declared him dead at around 6.35pm. It could not be ascertained whether Tata Rao belonging to a village close to the Appikonda area near Anakapalli town was brought dead or alive to the hospital as the KGH authorities declared him dead at 6.35pm. The KGH authorities as well as the police are tight lipped whether he was brought dead to the KGH or not.
However, the Commissioner said the post mortem report would be conducted on Friday and further investigation would be made on the basis of post mortem report. The deceased, who was convicted in two cases of gang rapes in 2001 and 2002 was serving a sentence of seven years. The police said that he was also involved in a total of seven cases of woman harassment, house burning and rape cases besides abetting suicide. The Police Commissioner said that an enquiry has been ordered into the incident by the DCP (Law and Order) who is expected to submit his report by Friday evening. Meanwhile, the Sub Inspector of Gajuwaka police station have been shifted pending enquiry into the incident.
