First Hindi-Turkish Dictionary compiled by Prof. Sita Lakshmi

The first Hindi-Turkish Dictionary was compiled by Prof. Sita Lakshmi of the Hindi Department of the Andhra University. The prestigious compilation will be released by the President of Turkey Abdullah Gul on February 9, 2010. Indian Council for Cultural Relations had deputed Sita Laksmi to the Department of Indology at Ankara University in Turkey in 2001. During her tenure of five years Sita Lakshmi completed post graduation diploma in Turkish language and then initiated the task of compiling the first Hindi Turkish dictionary.
She was assisted by Korhan Kaya, Head of the department of Indology in Ankara University in Turkey. After its compilation, the Central Hindi Directorate took up the responsibility of printing it. Hailing the efforts of the professor, Turkish President agreed to release it during his visit to India on February 9, 2010.
The professor has been invited to a banquet to be hosted by President Pratiba Patil on the same day. Ambassador stated that the exemplary work will inspire others in may areas of Indo-Turkish relations. He said that it would be of great help especially at this hour of strengthening the ties between the two countries.
