Two-day international seminar gets under way

To bridge the souls and understand the minds of each others to bring the South Asian Countries closer observed Director Genera of Economic Affairs Division of Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Ministry Sumit Nakandala on Tuesday. In his inaugural address at the two day international seminar on ‘South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC): towards a greater connectivity”, Smith Nakandala felt that the common heritage of the SAARC countries must be discovered and seen as part of connectivity.
The Sri Lankan official talked about the cultural affinity between his country and South India and revealed that the court language of the last kingdom of Sri Lanka was Telugu because the rules then were from Telugu Speaking people from Mahadurai area. He felt, that SAARC was workable instrument and achieved much connectivity.
While the Sumit felt that SAARC did not fail, former Ambassador and secretary to Ministry of External Affairs of India, AN Ram said on SAARC that Government idea would not succeed and people’s participation was necessary. Andhra University Centre for SAARC Studies Director T Nirmala Devi explained about the conference.
