About 320 acres of land is pending with Revenue Division officers for over 8 years now

Simhachalam, March 8, 2010

The District Collector, J Shyamala Rao said on Monday that nearly 1,100 applications relating to tenancy of the Simhachalam Devastanam land will be taken up for scrutiny and efforts will be made to dispose of these applications within six months. These appeals, covering 320 acres, have been pending with the Revenue Divisional Officers for the past seven to eight years. The Endowments Department contention would also be sought.

The Chief Minister, K Rosaiah had held a meeting recently on the issues of the district with the officials, MLAs and MPs and wanted the issue of the ‘Pancha Gramalu’ Adavivaram, Venkatapuram, Vepagunta, Purushottapuram, and Cheemalapalli to be resolved. The people’s representatives had wanted another House Committee to be appointed and the Endowments Department Minister said he would consider it.

The District Collector told the media persons on Monday that a GO could not be issued with regard to the 9,448 appeals on 315 acres owing to a High Court stay given after public interest litigation on regularizing encroached endowment land. On the rural water supply works worth over Rs.4 crore taken up with the XII Finance Commission funds, Shyamala Rao said 58 works were completed spending Rs.83 lakhs. Additional proposals costing to 1.71 crore had been sent.
