Top Rotary functionaries participates in the conference

A two day District Conference 2010 of the Rotary International was inaugurated at Kalavani Port stadium on Saturday. Top Rotary functionaries from Kolkata, UP and North America are participating in the conference. The key note address for the conference was given by former Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.
Speaking on the role of NGOs in rural development, Venkaiah Naidu stressed on the rural development and its impact on urban areas. He also stressed upon the need for provision of connectivity like electricity, roads, education and healthcare. He appreciated the works taken up by the Rotary International and called upon the NGOs to work together.
Speaking on the occasion, District Governor of Rotary International Ch Kishore Kumar said that the club would be organizing two fund raising programmes in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. He elaborated on the activities of the club and its services to society. A blood bank has been established at a cost of Rs.25 lakhs in the city and he informed that the members of Rotary International are active in the pulse polio eradication and pulse polio mission, he said. The Sunday keynote speakers would be the Union Minister of State for HRD D Purandareswari and spiritual leader Swami Sukhabhodananda.
