Purandareswari says State Government will continue former CM welfare schemes

Lays foundation stone for Dandu Bazar works

The Union Minister for Human Resource Development D Purandareswari has said that the State Government will continue the welfare programmes launched by former Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Speaking at a gathering after laying the foundation for re-construction works worth Rs.49.5 lakhs at Dandu Bazar on Tuesday, she said the programmes would be streamlined and implemented better.

GVMC Mayor, P Janaradhana Rao urged the Minister to help in release of the Jawaharlal National Urban Renewal Mission funds. Visakhapatnam South MLA Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao expressed happiness at the re-construction of the 30 year old shopping complex. At Dallivanipalem, Purandareswari laid the foundation for multi purpose community hall to be constructed at a cost of Rs.10 lakhs from MPLAD funds and Rs.27 lakhs from GVMC funds. She gave away Rs.2.26 crores towards bank linkage to 225 Self Help Groups through 11 banks.

The Mayor said that the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant had not come forward to foot the 30 percent contribution of the urban local body for the work taken up in the re-habitation colony. Works worth of Rs.192 crores have been taken up including basic infrastructure at an outlay of Rs.50 crores and Rs.28 crores in the Gangavaram Port area.
