NSTL opens for public to observe National Science Day

Indian National Science Day is observed on February 28 every year

National Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) will throw open to the students and the public in connection with the National Science Day celebrations from 10am to 4.30pm on February 24 and 25. Students and the public could see the excellent hydrodynamic test facilities, weapon systems such as torpedoes, mines, decoys and stealth products developed by NSTL, one of the leading laboratories of DRDO.

National Science Day celebrates Committee-2010 chairman and NSTL Additional Director Ch.Sankara Rao said that the day was celebrated in India on February 28 every year to commemorate the announcement of discovery ‘Raman Effect’ made by Sir CV Raman. NSTL scientists have taken time to create a number of demonstration models to explain the interesting scientific phenomena involved in the development of various weapons to make the students and public understand and appreciate the concepts involved.

As a premier lab in design and development of advanced naval weapon systems and state of the art stealth technologies, NSTL feels that it is a professional obligation towards future scientists of the country. Sankara Rao said the experience during the visit to the lab would be useful for the students of engineering colleges and others for technical exposure.
