Five more bodies recovered from Tandava reservoir

Naval personnel continues search for the other six missing

Visakha City, February 1, 2010

The Naval personnel during the search operations recovered five more bodies from the Tandava Reservoir in Golugonda mandal on Monday. Search would continue for the six more persons who were missing after a 'putty' in which they crammed themselves in capsized on Sunday. It may be recalled that two persons had survived while the body of one person was found on Sunday itself after a boat capsized.

The Praja Rajya Party president K Chiranjeevi went to the banks of the reservoir on Monday and consoled the families of the victims. He handed over Rs.10,000 to families of each victim. Chiranjeevi said that though no one could be held responsible for the accident, it was painful to see many children among the victims and enquired with the District Collector, J Shyamala Rao about the arrangements made for searching the missing persons.

The Minister for Tribal Welfare, P Balaraju was near the Tandava reservoir from morning till late in the evening supervising the efforts being made while the Superintendent of Police Vineet Brij Lal went into the reservoir on a boat and coordinated the search operations with the Navy personnel. District Minister in charge Kanna Lakshminarayana and Anakapalli MP Sabbam Hari also visited the area.
