Decries anti-Andhra rhetoric
Visakha City, January 3, 2010
The Joint Action Committees students and political parties in the city solicited the wholehearted support of all sections to make Monday's bandh in total and peaceful and came down heavily against the Andhra Rhetoric at the Vidyarthi Garjana held in Hyderabad on Sunday. The JAC activists also called for support for rail roko on Tuesday to press for integrated Andhra. They said the statements issued at the Vidyarthi Garjana were aimed at provoking them and declared that they would be forced to take a belligerent stand if the January 5 meeting made any pro-Telangana decision. They asked the banks, offices, establishments, petrol bunks and educational institutions to observe bandh voluntarily.
Seeking declaration of Telanagana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao's fast as bogus by the State Government, Congress leader Koyya Prasad Reddy told the media that there was no ground in TRS claim that the police had foisted false and fabricated cases against pro-Telangana activists. The number of cases registered against them is more as they indulged in large scale violence, he added.
PRP leader Vamsi Krishna Srinivasa Yadav said despite provocations from Telanagana leaders, they were observing restraint and conducting protests against move to divide the State peacefully. The JAC of Political Parties also appealed the BJP to change its stand on Telanagana and support unified Andhra Pradesh at the January 5 meeting. JAC leaders said that just because BJP has two MLAs from Telanagana, it should not support bifurcation. In deference to public opinion, it should reverse its stand.
