Several trains detained and delayed

In response to the call given by the JAC, which is advocating an integrated State organized rail roko resulted in several trains arriving late on Tuesday. Telugu Desam and Congress leaders squatted on the track and stopped the Bokaro-Alleppey and Tirupati-Visakhapatnam express trains at Rammurthy Panthula Peta level crossing near Kancharapalem. AU students raised slogans in support of Samaikyandhra.
MLA V Ramakrishna Babu said that the agitation would be continued till the Centre came out with a firm assurance that the State would not be bifurcated. The City Police Commissioner, N Sambasiva Rao rushed to the spot and gave instructions to his men on the steps to be taken to prevent untoward incidents. RPF personnel were also present in a large number.
Congress leaders Koyya Prasad Reddy, TDP leaders K Tata Rao, V Ganesh Kumar, M Sundaram Patrudu and A Vani were among those who participated in the agitation. Several trains were delayed by few hours due to the demonstrations. The railway authorities made arrangements to run most of the trains.
