Visakha City, March 11, 2010

The members of the Joint Action Committee of Samaikya Andhra on Thursday staged a dharna in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue demanding senior Congress leader JC Diwakara Reddy to withdraw his comments on separate state for Telangana.

Speaking at the dharna site, JAC Convenor A Kishore Kumar lamented that Diwakar Reddy who has suddenly changed his stand on separate statehood for Telangana issue, has hurt the feeling and sentiments of people of coastal Andhra by his comments and demanded to resign from MLA post immediately.

Kishore Kumar said if Diwakar Reddy does not withdraw his comments, the members of the JAC would not allow him to visit coastal Andhra region and further stated that he had cheated the activists who fought for united Andhra Region through agitational programmes. To create awareness in the tribal people and students towards United Andhra movement, the JAC of Samaikya Andhra will organize one day tribal meet in Paderu on March 17, he said.
