The Day marks the enactment of the Central Excise and Salt Act in 1944

The 66th Central Excise day was celebrated at Kalavani Auditorium on Wednesday marking the enactment of the Central Excise and Salt Act in 1944. Addressing a meeting on this occasion, Chief Commissioner of Central Excise, Customs & Service Tax Chandrahas Mathur said that the department had evolved from a state of direct control to implementing online filing programmes like ACES.
In tune with the current globalization trends, taxes were lowered and the other trade friendly measures initiated. Vice Chancellor of AP University of Law Y Satyanarayana who was the chief guest said that tax departments like Central Excise played a significant role in the development of the country.
Commissioner of Central Excise & Customs, Visakhapatnam II Commissionerate, PVR Reddy and Commissioner of Central Excise & Customs, Visakhapatnam I Commissionarate R Shakuntala spoke on the occasion.
