The Centre for Cancer Screening and Prevention (CCSP) took out an awareness rally on the beach road on Thursday on the occasion of World Cancer Day. K Santha Kumari, Medical Officer of CCSP, a unit of Translational Research Institute of Molecular Sciences (TRIMS) said cancer could be prevented in most cases if detected early. Director of TRIMS Lab Ch.Sasikanth and others explained to the public on how to take preventive steps.
They distributed pamphlets in which they highlighted common symptoms of cancer which include change in bowel or bladder habits, sore that does not heal, unusual bleeding or discharge, indigestion or difficulty in swallowing,, obvious change in wart or mole or nagging cough or hoarseness.
Dr. Santha Kumari said any information on prevention or cure of cancer could be obtained from CCSP at its office near Kalabharati auditorium phone numbers 0891-2715980 or 93968 30789. Vikasatarangini, an organization of Sri China Jeeyar Swamy conducted a cancer awareness walk on the occasion at Padmanabham village and nearly 300 students, mandal president, PHC doctors and health staff and volunteers of organizers took part.
