Six more bodies fished out in Tandava reservoir boat capsize incident

Compensation to the bereaved families announced

Visakha City, February 2, 2010

In the recent boat tragedy, six more bodies were recovered from the Tandava reservoir in Golugonda mandal in the district on Tuesday taking the total toll in the putti capsize to 12. Eight of them were children and other four were aged between 19 to 20 years.

Navy personnel fished out five bodies on Monday and the rest on Tuesday. Families of each of the four majors who died in the accident would be given Rs.1 lakh, including Rs.50,000 from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and Rs. 50,000 under Apatbandhu scheme. Families of minors would be given Rs.50,000 each from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Anakapalli MP Sabbam Hari gave Rs. 5,000 each to the kin.

One person died and his body is recovered on the day the capsize happened. Five more bodies are recovered a day later.
