Lok Satta Party stages dharna

Demands elections for Bheemunipatnam and Anakapalli municipalities

The district unit of Lok Satta Party on Wednesday staged a dharna at the Collectorate demanding the holding of elections to Bheemunipatnam and Anakapalli municipalities and forming of ward committees in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation as per Act 7 of 2008.

Lok Satta Party stated that according to the 74th Constitutional Amendment the municipal elections must be held by September 2010, LSP deplored the reported move to put them off in the name of identifying BC voters for the purpose of reservations. The party demanded direct elections for municipal chairmen posts to prevent horse-trading.

G. Anand Bishari Lal, District General Secretary of LSP submitted a memorandum to the District Revenue Officer.
