APSRTC to loose Rs.1.7 crore due to Samaikya Andhra bands and agitations

APSRTC runs 1461 buses everyday in the Visakhapatnam region

The Samaikya Andhra movement that has already disturbed the academic activities and caused public inconvenience in the last one month has had its serious impact on the income of Visakhapatnam Region of APSRTC. The basic means of transportation, APSRTC has been providing transport services in the district through its fleet of 1461 buses in a day.

The APSRTC Regional Manager, P Maheswar said in the last month along, the Corporation has sustained a loss of nearly Rs.1.77 cores in the region due to dharnas, rallies and strikes by the political parties and other organizations.

Nearly 4374 total buses including non stop, express and passengers of APSRTC beside those from neighboring stated failed to run the regular distance due to agitations. In addition, the income loss, the APSRTC also suffered property damage worth nearly Rs.20,000 which was caused by the activists who broke the glass of three buses.
