AIDWA activists stage rasta roko against police action

Demands judicial enquiry

The district committee of All India Democratic Women Association organized a rasta roko on Thursday in protest against the police action on the mid day meal scheme worker in front of the Collectorate on Tuesday and demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident. The mid-day meal scheme workers staged a 36 hour dharna demanding the Government to pay arrears for seven months and implement the GO providing honorarium of Rs.1,000 for each worker.

AIDWA district secretary B Prabhavati and president M Sujatha and others alleged that the police behaved in a brutal manner and dispersed the protest. The district committee demanded the Government to suspend the two Sub Inspectors for beating up women.

City president B Ramani, Secretary B Padma, district joint secretary AV Padmavathi and others submitted a memorandum to the Collector. The Telugu Mahila also organized a protest demonstration in front of the Collectorate seeking action against the police.

Meanwhile, two Circle Inspectors are served memos by the City Police Commissioner.
