Vizag expresses support to Anna Hazare. Citizens Forum organizes rally; Political parties blames Government.
RK Beach Road, August 18, 2011
A rally was held from the Kali temple on the Beach Road to Park Hotel Junction by anti-corruption activists and members of the Citizen's Forum. Speaking on the occasion, former Mayor D V Subba Rao said that Hazare's movement has made the younger generation to wake up to the Gandhian views and teachings.
Subba Rao cited corruption to be of two types. The first type, need-based corruption, is rampant at the lower level in which people bribe to get things done. The second type is greed-based and is popular in the senior or top level of the organization. This is more dangerous than the first type. Rao called upon curbing both the types of corruption as it is eating into the people. He said that Hazare's struggle is not media hype as he is enjoying the support of all sections of the people.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) organized a demonstration by featuring puppets resembling Congress leaders and putting a puppet of Anna Hazare, dressed as a tiger, in a cage. The Bharateeya Janatha Party (BJP) organized a rally from Ambedkar Statute to Jagadamba Junction in support of Hazare. The political party blamed the Congress for the massive corruption in the country.
