63rd Republic Day observed
- District Collector Lav Agarwal unfurls the national flag at the 63rd Republic Day function organized by the district administration at the Police Stadium. Addressing the function, Agarwal said that the district has achieved progress in all spheres and has set higher goals in future. Projects worth Rs 183 crore is allotted for the progress of tribal people in the district. Merit certificates were presented to 250 officers, employees and representatives of NGOs. Commissioner of Police J Purnachandra Rao, Superintendent of Police G Srinivas, Joint Collector M Girija Sankar, Assistant Joint Collector S Satyanarayana and others participated in the function.
- Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Anil Chopra addressed the Republic Day parade at the Naval Base. Speaking on the occasion, Anil Chopra lauded the Indian Navy and said that 49 ships and submarines would be inducted in the future to the already 133 ship-strong Navy.
- Rector PVGD Prasada Reddy unfurled the national flag at the Andhra University Golden Jubilee grounds. Addressing the function, the Rector mentioned the progress made by the country in the fields of Science and Technology. He presented Rs. 15,000 to M Pallavi, a student for winning a gold medal in the all-India inter-university athletic championship.
- Vice-Chancellor of GITAM University G Subramanyam presided over as the chief guest at the Republic Day function. He also inaugurated the third GITAM sports meet.
- Former Minister and YSR Congress Party leader Konathala Ramakrishna alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation has become a puppet in the hands of the ruling Congress party and principal opposition party Telugu Desam. At a press conference, he said that the CBI must investigate the cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy, Emaar Properties, Chandrababu Naidu and also against Margadarsi chit fund. He said that there is a conspiracy to get Jagan Mohan Reddy arrested.
- Several industries in the city observed the 63rd Republic Day. Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman Ajeya Kallam unfurled the national flag at the function held at Diamond Jubilee Stadium. HPCL-Visakha Refinery Executive Director PAB Raju took the guard of honor of CISF & Territorial Army of Visakha Refinery.
