Visakha Ashwini Mrudula Safety Award constituted. To be presented annually to the builder who installs the best security system for the apartment he builds.

Police Commissioner J Purnachandra Rao announced that the apartment builder who installs the best security system amongst the buildings he has constructed will be awarded the Visakha Ashwini Mrudula Safety Award.
The award is constituted in memorial of the recently murdered Ashwini Mrudula at the Metro Apartments in the busy Dondaparthy area. Speaking at a meeting organized by the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI), he said that the murder mystery of Mrudula would have been detected and the investigation would be easily solved had there been safety and security equipment such as closed circuit cameras etc. at the apartment. He felt dismay that the builders who spend crores of rupees for the provision of amenities doesn't spent few thousands for the safety of the residents in the apartment.
He suggested that the cost of the safety equipment be forwarded to the purchasers of the apartment or to the building association.
The Commissioner said that residents in the city do not even know their neighbours and that the village folk are better in this regard considering that they knew everyone living in their village. Senior Police officers, members of the CREDAI and others participated in the meeting.
