Visakha City, October 10, 2011

The Uttarandhra Adhyayana Vedika is gearing up to get their voice heard, even as the Central and State Governments are trying to bring an end to the 'Sakala Janula Samme' in Telangana. The Vedika felt the need to protect the interests of the north coastal Andhra area as it is most neglected area and is politically docile. In a statement released by the honorary chairman and UPSC Member KS Chalam and president Paluri Seshumamba, the Uttarandhra Adhyayana Vedika said that while the government and the political parties might be trying to find an understanding to bring an end to the Telangana general strike, the people of the Uttarandhra are most neglected. They felt the need to give a thought to what kind of benefits they would get in case of a united State or a truncated State.

Prof. Chalam said that except Visakhapatnam City, the rest of the north coastal Andhra remained backward. He said that even during the current agitations, nothing is being said about the backwardness of the region. He said that if the state is bifurcated, the politically strong and advanced districts will take away the benefits and the north coastal Andhra remain backward. He said that it is time to think about their share in water, natural resources and political participation.
