Teams arrive for Second ODI

The Indian and West Indies cricket teams arrive for the Second ODI to be played on December 2.

Visakhapatnam Airport, November 30, 2011

The Indian and West Indies Cricket teams have reached Visakhapatnam on Wednesday evening by a chartered flight from Cuttack. They were taken to the Grand Bay Hotel in the city amid tight police escort. The teams were welcomed by the students of Sri Prakash who presented the players with flowers and bouquets. Andhra Cricket Association secretary G Ganga Raju, Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Pola Bhaskar and other members of the organizing committee of the ODI match were present at the terminal building of the airport when the teams arrived. A group of Girijans performed the Dhimsa dance for the players.

Fourth Match

The second ODI between India and West Indies that will be played here on Friday will be the fourth time the ground is hosting a One Day International.

The ground has a capacity of 25,000 was established in 2003. The first ODI here was played between India and Pakistan on April 5, 2005 which India won by a margin of 58 runs. In a high scoring game, wicketkeeper batsman MS Dhoni scored 148(123). India played Sri Lanka on February 17, 2007 which the hosts won by 7 wickets. Another match between India and Australia was played here on October 20, 2010 which India won by 5 wickets.

Transportation

The APSRTC has arranged special buses to the stadium for the convenience of fans. The special buses will be operated from various places in the city at frequent intervals. They will be operated from Central Bus Station, Railway Station, Simhachalam, Kothavalasa, Old Gajuwaka, NGO Colony, Arilova Colony, Old Head Post Office, Sector-5 and Sector-8 of Steel Plant, Kurmannapalem, Rajiv Nagar, Pendurthi, NAD, Gantyada HB Colony, Dairy Colony, VIDA Colony and Mulagada Colony. The APSRTC will also operate specials from 10am from Anakapalle with a 30-minute frequency.
