Telugu Desam Party stages dharna infront of Collectorate demanding Government take steps to resolve farmers problems
District Collect Office, September 19, 2011
Telugu Desam Party has severely criticized the State Government for ignoring farmers in the State. The TDP committee staged a dharna in front of the District Collectorate and held the State Government responsible for situations like 'crop holiday' by farmers in the State. The dharna was led by senior leader Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu.
The TDP leaders said that the leaders of the ruling party came into power promising better future to the farmers. However the farmers are left with disappointment since the Congress party came into power. They said that the farmers are facing problems like inability to secure loans, fertilizers, water for irrigation and minimum support price for their outputs. It is unfortunate that recommendations in reports by Swaminathan, Jayanthi Ghosh, Koneru Rangarao were ignored, and the Government is following the same lines in the recent Mohan Kanda report.
Ayyanapatrudu critized that while farmers are in deep trouble, Tribal Welfare Minister P Balaraju is participating in merger meetings with Praja Rajyam Party. Former MP Pappala Chalapathi Rao demanded the Government to take steps to resolve the farmers' problems immediately.
Visakha Diary Chairman Adari Tulasi Rao, Kona Tatarao, Peela Srinivasa Rao, Lalam Bhaskar Rao, Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, M Mani Kumari, Harshavardhan Prasad, Chengala Venkat Rao, Bharanikana Rama Rao, Dasari Venkateswara Rao, PS Naidu, Baireddy Potana Reddy, VSN Murthy Yadav and others took part in the protests.
