Second day of Legislators tour in Araku

Legislators spend the second day of the three day study tour in Araku valley discussing about good governance

Araku, January 10, 2012

The legislators who were on a three day tour in Araku valley spent the second day discussing about various issues. The highlight of the day was the seminar by CV Madhukar of New Delhi on 'Legislators - Good Governance'. The legislators listened to him intently and clarified their doubts by interacting with him at the end of the session.

Speaker Nadendla Manohar organized a question and answer session after the seminar. In the hour long session, the MLAs interacted with the Speaker on the business of the Assembly. They expressed their anguish saying that most of them were not given the opportunity to talk about the problems of the people in the Assembly. They complained that few MLAs were being allowed to speak every time in the Assembly. Responding to this, the Speaker said that it was only because of the current political situation in the State. He said that he should allow for discussion on the adjournment motions proposed by various political parties at the start of business day in the Assembly.

Manohar also suggested the legislators to submit their questions with the Assembly secretary before hand. He said that the MLAs are only submitting their questions only after the notification of the assembly session which is not giving the administration enough time. Manohar also announced that a website intended for the legislators to log their questions online will be made available soon. He said that he had directed the Principal secretary to ensure that questions by the legislators to the ministers in the assembly were answered within 15 days.

PRP founder and Tirupati MLA joined the legislators on the second day, while Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy will join the camp tomorrow.
