United Andhra Pradesh protests intensify

Tribal Welfare Minister P Balaraju participated at a Samaikyandhra programme organized under the aegis of Samaikyandhra Student JAC and Samaikyandhra Youth JAC at Akkayyapalem on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, he said as a committed Congressman he believes that Andhra Pradesh could be developed only if it was united. He also said there could be no deadline on a sensitive issue like division of a state.
A large number of students participated in the programme and raised slogans favoring a United Andhra Pradesh. Samaikyandhra Student JAC convenor Adari Kishore and Minister Balaraju administered oath of unified Andhra Pradesh to the children.
Several other United Andhra programmes were organized in the city. The Samaikyandhra Praja Porata Samithi organized a Post Card Campaign near the post office in Diamond Park area. Members of Samaikyandhra Political Joint Action Committee and employees of APTransco observed 'candle light protest' in front of the Transco office.
Members of the AP Bar Council Ch Madhavi Lata, addressing the advocates who are on relay hunger strike, said bifurcation of the state would lead to many problems. The relay hunger strike would continue till January 28.
