The annual Margasiramasa Mahotsavam of Goddess Kanaka Mahalakshmi will be held from November 26 to December 24 this year. Special prayers to the Goddess will be held at the Kanaka Mahalakshmi temple during Margasiramasam every year.
The Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Temple development committee chairman Kantumuchu Tata Rao said that all arrangements for the festival are in full swing. He said that the Endowments Department is in coordination with the police, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, Medical and Revenue departments to make the fete a grand success. Free meals would be provided to 1000 devotees on each day during the Margasiramasam. Tenders have already been invited for illumination of temple area during the Margasiramasam. Whitewashing and painting works were already done.
There will also be no change in the rates of prasadams - Laddu and Pulihora. The temple is not interested in increasing the prices as they are not in a commercial business to compare profits and losses. Even though the prices of ingredients required to make prasadams are going sky rocket, regular flow of visitors will help increase hundi collections.
