GVMC makes move to ban plastic. Organizes workshop restricting the use of plastic.

The GVMC will soon organize a workshop on restricting the use of plastic carry bags and replacing it with the one with jute and paper bags. Commissioner, GVMC, VN Vishnu said on Monday that as per the government order usage of plastic bags below 20 microns of thickness would be banned.
Before going into implementation of the ban, a meeting with all stake-holders was planned giving them enough time to prepare for the ban and making alternative arrangements. The ban is being implemented strictly in other relatively small municipalities like Rajahmundry, Bobbili, Nidadavole among others. Vishnu asked the Chief Medical Officer D Abbulu to chalk out a plan for implementing the orders initially in a ward each to six zones.
