Municipal Commissioner B Ramanjaneyulu speaks at convention on 'RTI Act and media's role'. He lauds the role of media and the Right to Information Act

Municipal Commissioner B Ramanjaneyulu lauded the role of media and said that the Right to Information Act and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme have benefited the people. Speaking at a convention held by the Visakha Samacharam to mark its 21st anniversary, Ramanjaneyulu said that the rural media has a wide scope to bring out several stories to the public. The "RTI Act and media's role" convention was held at the VJF Press Club. Former State Information Commissioner R Dileep Reddy said that the RTI act has brought out scandals like 2G scam into light.
Ramanjaneyulu and Dileep Reddy were felicitated on the occasion. Editor of the daily Surampudi Veerabhadra Rao, K Venkataramana, S Bhujanga Rao and chief reporters P Narayan spoke on the occasion.
The Right to Information Act 2005 (RTI) is an Act of the Parliament of India "to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens." The Act applies to all States and Union Territories of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
